BOOKING YOUR BAND AT THE BLACKHEART
**This is a long and obnoxious post and I am fully aware. However, I highly recommend you read it because I took the time to write it and it contains information that will be helpful to you getting a gig here.
Please email Sam at email@example.com. Facebook is not a great way to reach me. Nor is Twitter, Instagram, or any other social media outlet. EMAIL ONLY.
My response time is anywhere from one day to one month (or longer) or anywhere in between. Because I generally book 3-4 months in advance, I can afford to take my time in getting back to you. If you don’t hear from me, please send me a follow up email. I try to answer all emails and listen to all artists that request a show.
My general booking format is one-two artists/night. BLACKHEART has standing residencies on almost all week days. What that means is that there aren’t so many days left in the calendar month to book you. If I can’t work out a date with you immediately but I like your music, we will find a date. If I don’t think you’re a good fit for the room, I’ll tell you.
Please try to include all of this information in your email:
Your band’s name
Links to your music on Soundcloud, Youtube, etc.
Links to your Facebook, Twitter, etc.
Available dates **NOTE: I book 3 to 4 months out.
BLACKHEART is a good fit for your music if you perform: Texas country, cosmic country, blues, rock ‘n roll, Americana and high-energy world music.
BLACKHEART is NOT a good fit for pop music, djs, Lilith Fair-esque singer-songwriters and depressing shit.
PERFORMING AT THE BLACKHEART
We will provide a sound engineer for your performance date and time. The cost of the engineer is paid for by the venue (excluding private rentals, cover shows and special events). Your load in & sound check times will be established with your engineer. An advance will be sent to you with full details for load in, etc. after your date has been confirmed.
We have two stages at The Blackheart – our indoor stage is usually reserved for weekdays, and the outdoor stage for weekends, weather permitting. On occasion, we can schedule events to alternate stages throughout the evening (for cd releases, etc.). If your event has more than 3 artists, this might be the right production set-up for you. If you’re curious, ask me.
Please keep in mind that you are playing *TO THE ROOM* and almost all weekday events are on the INSIDE stage. You are setting the mood, not playing Madison Square Garden. What I mean by this is: try not crank your amps to 11 and consequently drive the regulars and awkward Tinder dates out of the room. Start low and let your engineer work with you to find an appropriate level based on the day of the week and the crowd.
PROMOTING YOUR PERFORMANCE
Blackheart submits all shows in The Chronicle & Do512 as well as promoting via Facebook, Twitter & Instagram. We will promote your show, but you gotta meet me half way. You can connect with us on on all of these places:
PLEASE DO MAKE A FACEBOOK EVENT. I only create them for special events that we host at the venue. It’s too much to create them for every show. If you build it, I will share it with our followers.
It is great to be listed here, and have an artist profile.
If you see an error in your calendar listing, please contact myself or Courtney at do512 ASAP! firstname.lastname@example.org
POSTERS: Yes, you are more than welcome to bring your posters by. 4-5 is usually good for the bar. I cannot print posters for you.
